DCI Releases White Paper on Outreach and Recruitment for IwDs and Veterans
Nearly two full years have passed since the release of the revised Section 503 and VEVRAA which introduced a number of new requirements for federal contractors involving affirmative action for protected veterans and individuals with disabilities (IwDs). Although March 24, 2014 will go down in history as the date marking the start of the new requirements, many federal contractors had started working to prepare for the upcoming changes well before this date. Of the many changes underway, contractors voiced particular concerns about the new requirement to formally evaluate efforts taken to attract and retain qualified IwDs and protected veterans. Questions on implementing the new requirement were largely unanswered by the regulatory text. For this reason, DCI Consulting Group developed a survey to engage the contractor community in a discussion of current practices and future plans for effectively evaluating outreach and recruitment for IwDs and protected veterans. Contractor responses were reviewed by DCI staff, and used to compile a comprehensive resource on best practices amongst contractors for conducting an effective evaluation of outreach and recruitment of IwDs and protected veterans, and released in this white paper.
